Georginio
Wijnaldum hit four goals in a thrilling game at St James' Park as Newcastle
overcame Norwich 6-2.
Newcastle,
who started the day without a win in the Premier League and bottom of the
table, went ahead through Wijnaldum in the 14th minute but Dieudonne Mbokani
equalised soon after.
Wijnaldum
bagged his second with a header on 26 minutes before Ayoze Perez's neat finish
made it 3-1. However, Newcastle only had a two-goal cushion for a minute as
Nathan Redmond volleyed home at the far post.
With five
goals inside 34 minutes, the game slowed, and Newcastle only made it safe in
the second half.
Aleksandar
Mitrovic struck a fine effort in to give Steve McClaren some breathing space,
before Wijnaldum bagged his hat trick just two minutes later.
Then the
Dutchman saved his best for last -- an absolute rocket which took a deflection
into the top corner.
