Porto
goalkeeper Iker Casillas is set to become the Champions League's all-time
record appearance maker on Tuesday night when he walks out for his 152nd
performance in the competition against Chelsea.
Casillas, who
spent a glittering 16 years in Real Madrid's first team, equaled fellow
Spaniard, and ex-Barcelona star, Xavi's record of 151 Champions League games
played earlier this month.
The
goalkeeper, now at Porto, started his new club's opening Champions League Group
G game against Dynamo Kiev, as Julen Lopetegui's men drew 2-2 in Ukraine and
looks likely to claim the record for his own when Jose Mourinho's side visit
the Estadio do Dragao.
And with
veteran midfielder Xavi currently plying his trade for Qatari side Al Sadd,
Casillas will hope to build up quite a gap at the top of the Champions League
appearance table.
A closer look
at the tournament's most prolific appearance makers proves interesting reading
