ARSENAL boss
Arsene Wenger has split from his wife after their marriage collapsed.
The Gunners
chief has separated from Annie, 59 after months of speculation about the state
of their relationship.
The Wengers
applied to the family court in Paris to register their separation.
Papers now
available to the public in Wenger’s hometown of Strasbourg, France, show they
have not been together since June of this year.
The couple,
who have an 18-year-old daughter Leah, got a judge to issue a “separation of
bodies” judgment, meaning they are free to see other people.
As the
separation – knows as a “séparé du corps” in French - is not a full divorce,
Wenger, 65 will still be expected to look after his ex-wife financially.
However, no
details of any financial settlement have been revealed in the paperwork and it
is not clear whether the couples are still living together at their north
London mansion – near Arsenal’s training ground in London Colney.
Annie and
Wenger had been in a long term relationship before their marriage.
Wenger
received an OBE with his wife by his side at the Foreign and Commonwealth
office from Jack Straw in 2003.
He has made a
number of public appearances with wife Annie, but they have not been pictured
together since the BFI Luminous Gala in London in October 2013.
In an
interview in 2008 he revealed how he promised to quit football in the early naughtiest
and how the job was a strain on his marriage.
